The works use cross-stich templates of a serene cottage and juicy fruit, typically found in Western art canons. However, the textual undertones tell more sinister stories that unfold once deciphered through coded language, including a workplace harassment story, and the witnessing of crimes of Partition by the artist’s grand-aunt.

The works use Chinese hobby kits, available in stores for embellishing traditional ladies’ garments. Chinese trade and imports have greatly influenced tastes and aesthetics in construction, home décor and fashion, and has been reinforced by belt and road project cutting through Pakistan.
